Protecting the lives of those who can’t protect themselves.
That was the message the Missouri Senate conveyed after passing a bill early Thursday morning banning abortions after 8 weeks of pregnancy except in cases of medical emergencies. There are no exceptions in cases of rape or incest. Abortion doctors caught breaking the law could spend 15 years behind bars.
The bill needs another vote of approval in the House of Representatives before it can head to Republican Gov. Mike Parson’s desk, who is expected to sign it.
