Property owners to see details on 32nd Street project

Joplin’s 32nd Street is going to get wider and it’s time for property owners to see plans and ask questions.

The City of Joplin will hold a special meeting for area property owners to view the final right of way plans.

Representatives of Olsson and Associates, the engineering/design consultant for the street improvements, as well as city engineering staff will be available to discuss the project.

The meeting will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, in the Parish Center of St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 3035 S. Central City Road.

The project will widen 32nd Street, from Schifferdecker Avenue west to Central City Road. The design includes adding a center lane and constructing a sidewalk-shared use path, while acquiring adequate right of way for future expansion to a five-lane road. It is being funded through the 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters in 2014.

If citizens are unable to attend the meeting and would like to discuss the project, please contact one of the City staff members listed.

Dan Johnson can be reached at 417-624-0820, ext. 538, or via email at djohnso1@joplinmo.org; Chad Weller is at ext. 581 or cweller@joplinmo.org; and Rob Beachner is at ext. 543 or rbeachne@joplinmo.org.
