Suspect In South Joplin Robberies In Custody
“We’re comfortable that the person that was arrested is responsible for these incidents.”
A person of interest is in custody after a fourth victim came forward, saying they were threatened by a stranger that asked for a ride who pulled a gun on them and forced the man to take out cash from the ATM in south Joplin. The last case was similar to three prior incidents where the suspect used a knife to commit the crime. Captain Trevor Duncan tells News Talk KZRG there’s no indication that the suspect knew the victims.
“When one incident was reported, it was looked at from that public as fishy, or that something just wasn’t adding up, then there was the second one, and a third one, and then the forth, and then it became more apparent that the suspect was picking his victims and was having luck with it.”
The identity and description of the suspect in custody is not being released at this time.
Duncan says it’s possible there are more victims that have not yet come forward.
Never give a ride, or open your door to a stranger.
