Robber Asking For Ride In Joplin Possibly Strikes Again
“I have an interesting update, and you’re going to be the first one to get it.”- Captain Trevor Duncan
Remember when News Talk KZRG told you yesterday about a Joplin man that was robbed at knife point after a stranger knocked on his door and asked for a ride to the ATM on Tuesday? Once they got there, the suspect forced the man to withdraw some cash at knife point. They went back to the victim’s home and the suspect then left after using the bathroom.
While the whole story sounded a bit suspicious, it happened again yesterday. Joplin Police Captain Trevor Duncan explains.
“Another victim was near 26th and Main at McDonald’s. A suspect, of similar description, asked him to give him a ride to an ATM. The victim agreed, the male then forced the victim to withdraw money. He then gave him an address to a residence, at that point. The victim gave him the ride to the address and the suspect went inside and never came back out.”
No arrests have yet been made, and police are not releasing a description of the suspect.
“We’re not saying this is the same suspect, but obviously you’ve got the same scenario, close proximity of locations, and same M.O. We’re investigating both with a possible link between the two.”
The moral of the story: Do not give a ride to a stranger.
