JFD Called For 4 Water Rescues Tuesday Night
Turn around, don’t drown. Unfortunately, during the heavy rain and storms Tuesday night , several people didn’t heed that warning.
Joplin Fire Chief Jim Furgeson tells News Talk KZRG his Fire Department was called on for at least four water rescues.
“Even the smallest amount of water can push a vehicle off a roadway. You gotta take flooding seriously. Year after year we do these types of things where cars think they can make it, and end up getting stalled out, or pushed off the roadway. You’re no going to save that much time by trying to drive through flooded waters. Turn around and find an alternate route.”
The flooding threat will continue tonight, mainly after 5 p.m, and early Thursday morning after 4 a.m as more heavy rainfall is projected to impact the area.
