Burger King To Offer Vegan Whopper Nationwide

Would you order a meat-free burger at a fast-food restaurant?

One restaurant chain is convinced that you will, and that you’ll not only love it, but you won’t be able to tell the difference.

In comes the vegan Whopper.

Burger King’s Impossible Whopper will soon be available nationwide after market-testing the plant-based burger in St. Louis for the past four weeks. The chain announced Monday (4/29) that it intends “to quickly test in additional markets with the intention of nationwide distribution by end of year.”

The Impossible Whopper is available at 59 Burger King restaurants in and around St. Louis.

Silicon Valley-based Impossible Foods genetically engineers heme, which is a protein that comes from the roots of soy plants that makes plant-based foods taste like meat.
