Pittsburg To Celebrate Earth Day
Monday is Earth Day and the City of Pittsburg is putting together a free, family-friendly celebration on Saturday! From 11a.m to 3 p.m at the Pritchett Pavilion in Immigrant Park you can check out nearly 20 exhibits, and stay for the live music, kids activities and educational resources for the community. Each kid can decorate and take home a toad house.
Cub Scout Pack 151 will provide education on native trees and plant species in the area. Kids will get to plant a native seed in a cup with potting soil. Pittsburg State University Library Services will share a demonstration on growing milkweed plants for monarch butterflies. Vendors like Miners and Monroe will be selling merchandise and providing information about brands that promote sustainability and use recycled materials or organic products.
Earth Day was founded in 1970 in the U.S. to focus on educating the public about environmental issues, and is now celebrated around the globe.
