Firefighters respond to mobile home park blaze
Fire broke out Saturday morning in two structures at the Bykota Trailer park on East 32nd Street, across the street and just west of the Flying J truck stop.
The call came in around 5:30 a.m.That’s according to Redings Mill Fire Department Deputy Chief Ronnie Metcalf.
“When Newton County Deputies arrived, they found two fully involved mobile homes,” Metcalf says.
“We arrived a few minutes after that,” he continues. “Between Joplin Fire and Redings Mill, we were able to extinguish both the mobile homes that were on fire.”
He says both homes were unoccupied and had no utilities.
Redings Mill was the primary responder to the blaze. Both mobile homes were a complete loss but no one was injured.
Deputy Chief Metcalf says the cause is under investigation.
