Support Organ Donation- Wear Your Blue and Green
Did you know you can save 8 lives as an organ donor? Donors saved 818 lives in western Missouri and Kansas last year – the most in a single year, but that number can only increase if more people registered to donate. To keep that momentum going strong, Freeman Health System is honoring National Donate Life Month by getting their employees involved.
On Friday, National Donate Life Blue and Green Day, Freeman employees will be wearing blue and green to show support for organ, eye and tissue donation. You can also support the cause by stopping by Freeman West’s main lobby for a blue and green pin from 10 to 2. You can also register as an organ donor while you’re there if you haven’t already.
More than 120,000 people across the nation are waiting for an organ, and one person is added to a waiting list every 10 minutes. By registering to be an organ donor, an individual can save as many as eight lives and directly improve the lives of up to 50 people through tissue donation.
Joining the donor registry is simple. Individuals can register online, or at the department of motor vehicles when obtaining or renewing a driver’s license or identification card.
