Fatal KCMO explosion caught on camera
Authorities say a body has been found inside a home that collapsed during a fiery explosion.
Kansas City Fire Department Deputy Chief Jimmy Walker says the body was found in the rear of the home. It wasn’t clear if the person was male or female.
When crews responded around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, the home already had collapsed.
Kevin Meyers says that after hearing the explosion, he ran from his home across the street to help and heard what he described as “banging”. He says he ran to get a chainsaw and called 911. When he returned, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
The blast was captured on surveillance video from a nearby business. You can see it here as part of an Action 41 News broadcast
