MoDot Crews On Pothole Patrol
MoDot crews are on pothole patrol to fix a problem that has plagued the state’s highways after an extreme winter.
In February, the Midwest was the coldest place on earth, according to the National Weather Service. And nowhere is that more evident than hundreds of thousands of potholes that plague our highways and cause jaw-jarring bumps. By now- Missouri has repaired more of those than all of last year.
Since the weather is warmer, more than 300 MoDOT patching crews are out full force making long-term repairs.
In the meantime- there are tips to navigate these craters. One – slow down before you hit one, but don’t brake, that can cause more damage.
And two- if it rains, be careful of puddles—those can be potholes in hiding.
MoDot usually spends 15 million a year patching these- it’s still unknown what this record-breaking winter will cost us.
