Two Arrested Following Stabbing In Riverton
While most people were sleeping last night, your local law enforcement officers tracked down a stabbing suspect and arrested another suspect on drug charges after executing a search warrant where methamphetamine was seized before it could be sold a short distance from one of our elementary schools. -Sheriff David Groves
Two people were arrested in Baxter Springs Sunday night following a stabbing in Riverton. Around 10 o’clock, Cherokee County deputies received a call about a stabbing. The investigation led detectives to a home in the 500 block of West 14th Street in Baxter Springs.
54-year-old James Martin Jr. was taken into custody on allegations of aggravated battery. 68-year-old Deeta Olds was also arrested on meth and paraphernalia charges, including with the intent to distribute near a school.
Both are held in the Cherokee County Jail. Martin’s bond has been set at $15,000. Olds’ bond is $57,000.
The victim was transported to a Joplin hospital and later released.
