Jasper County Proposition 1 Passes
Following Tuesday’s election, Jasper County voters overwhelmingly passed a continuation of a tax that’s been in place for years. Proposition 1, a quarter-cent countywide sales tax, will continue on for another 15 years to be used for improvements within the county, specifically a new courts building in Joplin, a new courtroom in Carthage, and for the expansion and renovation of the Jasper County Jail.
The tax currently had a sunset date of 2023. The tax has a new sunset of 2038.
It passed 4469-1802. Jasper County voter turnout was 8.3%.
