Neosho Farmers’ Market calling for new vendors

Kicking off their 10th anniversary season, and 5th since reorganizing in 2015, Neosho Farmers Market is expanding to meet the demands of a growing community and expanding consumer base.

With this season’s Opening Day set on May 4th the producers-only market is currently seeking quality growers of farm-raised produce and meats, kitchen-fresh foods, as well as producers of other handmade garden, kitchen, or food-related goods.

Previous market experience is a plus, but market organizers will also work with candidates with the right combination of skills, vision, and personality.

Basic eligibility requirements include growing/producing their own goods in Newton County, Missouri or those immediately adjacent (Jasper, Lawrence, Barry, McDonald Counties in SW Missouri, Ottawa County in NE Oklahoma, or Cherokee County in SE Kansas), and in certain cases, meeting specific health and/or food safety standards.

Those interested in learning more about becoming part of the Neosho Farmers Market are encouraged to visit their website, and look for the ‘Become a Vendor’ link.

Neosho Farmers Market is a volunteer-organized, producer-only market, located on the northwest corner of Spring and Jefferson streets in Historic Downtown Neosho, directly across from the Neosho-Newton County Library.

The market features all local vendors of fresh, farm-raised produce, fruits and other food related products such as baked goods and fresh eggs, as well as farm, garden, and food related, handmade artisan goods. Hours for the market are 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., every Saturday morning, May through October.

The mission of the Neosho Farmers Market is to offer our community healthy, locally-grown, sustainably-produced foods and quality handmade goods from an area network of farmers and producers.
