Jones enters Alford plea for involuntary manslaughter
Eight years.
That’s how long a 46 year old Newton County man was sentenced to prison after pleading no contest to a charge he killed a walkaway from and Oklahoma halfway house in August of 2017.
Christopher Jones entered an Alford plea to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of 57 year old Lanny Holman of Rocky, Oklahoma.
A warrant had been issued for Holman after he left custody in Oklahoma.
Prosecutors believe Holman was fatally beaten in Jones’ Newton County trailer home. An autopsy showed Holman had died as a result of blunt force trauma.
The body was found dumped on Holly Road south of Joplin.
