Stronger beer coming to some Kansas stores
Starting Monday, stronger beer will be available in Kansas grocery and convenience stores. After years of campaigning by these stores, the state will now allow up to 6% alcohol by volume starting April 1st. That’s up from the current 3.2% by weight.
Some liquor stores are worried about the change and how it will effect their business.
You’ll remember that Oklahoma’s new alcohol laws went into effect in October, however, unlike in the Sooner state, wine and hard liquor will not be available in grocery or convenience stores in Kansas.
This new law also allows liquor stores to sell non-alcoholic products as long as they don’t exceed 20% of gross sales.
