Pittsburg man arrested for kidnapping and assault

A Pittsburg man has been arrested after a three hour standoff with police

Just after 6pm Thursday Pittsburg Police were called to the 1000 block of South Walnut after a woman ran to home and complained that she had been held against her will and assaulted by a neighbor. Police attempted to make contact with the accused, but there was no answer.

Due to the nature of the crime, the police department activated its Special response team as well as a crisis negotiation team to attempt contact.

After almost three hours and numerous attempts by law enforcement and family to reach the suspect, a search warrant was obtained and entry was made into the home where they found the accused 28-year-old Joseph Levi McClure of Pittsburg hiding in the home.

McClure is being held in the Crawford County jail on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault kidnapping and criminal threat and battery. He is being held on a 50,000 dollar bond.
