New Habitat for Humanity project kicks off tomorrow
Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity (JAHFH) is launching a new program where low-
income homeowners in need can receive up to $25,000 in home repairs. JAHFH
continues to work towards a mission of safe and decent home environments by
stabilizing communities and homeowners through the Critical Home Repair
Program (CHRP). This program aims to alleviate housing needs for primarily
elderly and physically disabled households.
Thursday, March 21 st , from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at 209 Luke Place, Carl Junction, home of Bruce and Colleen Smithey
JAHFH has been able to start this program thanks to our partnership with Mid-
Missouri Bank as our sponsor bank and through their membership to the Federal
Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB). A $460,000 grant from FHLB’s
Affordable Housing program will give JAHFH the opportunity to go beyond what we
have been able to complete through our A Brush With Kindness program, which are
light, exterior home repairs.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must live in Jasper County, own the home as the primary residence.
Homeowner must be current on their mortgage, insurance, and property taxes.
The property must demonstrate a need for repair.
Household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI).
Homeowner must agree to pay for the repairs at a maximum of 8% of project
costs through a 3-year payback model. ‘Early pay’ incentives will reduce the total
amount owed.
