Springfield Man Sentenced In Undercover Child Sex Scheme
A Springfield man will spend the next decade behind bars without the possibility of parole for soliciting sex from someone that he thought was a teen, but was actually an undercover officer.
55-year-old Daniel Rowland pleaded guilty last May to posting an ad on Craigslist for a “younger babygirl”. A detective with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department sent Rowland an email while posing as a 14-year-old girl. During the email exchanges, Rowland made clear that he wanted to establish a “boyfriend/girlfriend” relationship, which would have to remain secret. His emails became more sexual in nature, including several sexually explicit videos along with messages explaining what he wanted to do with her. They arranged to meet, and when Rowland arrived, he was arrested.
Following his incarceration, Rowland will also have to serve 15 years of supervised release.
