Authorities arrest impaired drivers

For several area motorists, the early St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the Joplin area was ….. not so good.

Several impaired motorists were arrested Saturday night and into Sunday morning. That’s according to Joplin Police Captain Trevor Duncan.

“The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department arrested two DWIs, the Webb City Police Department got two DWIs and the Joplin Police Department got two DWIs,” says Captain Trevor Duncan of the Joplin Police Department.

“So, basically, our efforts got six DWIs arrested right in our community,” he states.

The JPD says arrests were made at 7th and Main, 32nd and Main, 7th and Willard, west of 7th and Schifferdecker, 7th and Maiden Lane and at a location in Webb City.

The Joplin Police Department kept a running total of DWI arrests on its Facebook page Saturday night.

There is some good news in the arrest report: This year’s six arrests are lower than the 10 the JPD tallied during the same time period last year.
