Monett Police searching for suspect in attempted robbery
Monett Police are investigating shots fired during an attempted robbery last night. Read the full press release below:
On Thursday, February 28, 2019, at 9:06PM, Monett Lawrence County Communications received a 911 call in reference to an attempted robbery, involving shots being fired at Peking Restaurant, located at 535 E. Cleveland. Monett, MO. The owner of the restaurant, and an employee had closed the restaurant and were leaving in separate vehicles for the evening. The owner was approached by a tall, thin white male, clean shaven, wearing a black stocking cap, black coat, and gloves. The suspect came up to the driver’s side of the vehicle and demanded money. The employee also saw the subject at the owners van. When both of them attempted to leave, the subject shot at them, hitting one of the vehicles twice and one of the vehicles once. Several shell casings were located at the scene. No one was injured during the attempted robbery and the suspect remains at large.
