Joplin Man Arrested While Smoking Meth At Sheriff’s Office
Smoking drugs is never a good idea, but smoking them at the Sheriff’s office, well that’s just crazy. And that’s what 25-year-old Christopher Hill of Joplin did this morning.
Around 2:30, a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy was at the station in Columbus consulting with other officers about weather and road conditions until they spotted a man and woman pull into the parking lot on the surveillance camera.
The man stayed in the car while the woman went inside to inquire about posting bond for an inmate.
The man appeared to be smoking something other than cigarettes on the surveillance camera so the deputy went out to the car and caught Hill with a considerable amount of meth along with drug paraphernalia.
Hill is now in custody at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s office and is being held on $15,000 bond.
“This is certainly a situation which can be used to demonstrate the damage done by using methamphetamine, which clearly results in a diminished ability to think rationally,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.
The woman who was with Hill was not arrested and decided not to post either man’s bond at that time.
