Only minor damage in Walgreens fire

Joplin firefighters were summoned to a call about a possible fire at the Walgreens at 1605 West 7th street in Joplin Saturday morning.

The call came in at 10:20 a.m.

Joplin Fire Department Battalion Chief John Smith says the fire crew helped finish putting out a small fire in a cabinet that was most likely electrical in nature.

He says quick-thinking Walgreens store employees had used a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived.

Smith says the fire team contained the problem in a matter of minutes and there was no significant damage and no injuries.
