You Can Expect Some Delays On I-44 Starting This Spring

If you are traveling on I-44 between Joplin and Springfield this spring, you’d better give yourself some extra time. Starting as early as May MODOT will be doing some much needed and major repairs to bridges along I-44.

Four teams vied for the opportunity to design and build the I-44 Project Bridge Rebuild that includes replacing 12 bridges and completing major repairs of 7 others.

Emery Sapp and Sons in Association with Parsons hope to start the project this spring and complete the project by December of 2021.

Project Director Greg Chapman says that 10 of the bridges scheduled to be repaired are a part of the 900 poor quality bridges that Missouri Governor Parson has committed to fixing as part of the Missouri’s vital infrastructure.
