Anderson man arrested after being found in possession of stolen Porsche
A man from Anderson is in custody on several charges after he was found in possession of a stolen Porsche. Read the full press release below:
On February 4th around 7 p.m., deputies with the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office located a stolen 2005 Posche Cayenne from Jasper County sitting at an apartment complex located outside of Noel on 90 hwy. After further investigation, deputies discovered which apartment the suspect was in and learned that he could possibly be armed with a hand gun.
After receiving permission to search the apartment from the tenant, the suspect 44-year-old Scott Eugene Carter of Anderson was located hiding under a hide-a-bed couch in one of the bedrooms. As Carter rouse from the couch, he brandished a large framed 2 tone colored hand gun and threatened suicide. At this point, deputies contained Carter to the bedroom where he was located, and notified the McDonald County Special Response Team and removed all other tenants from the apartment complex.
After the arrival of the MCSO Special Response Team, negotiations continued with Carter for over 4 hours in an attempt to put down the weapon and surrender. Around 11:45 p.m., Carter was taken into custody after SRT deployed 4, 12 gauge Less Lethal “Bean Bag” rounds and one of the MCSO K9’s.
Carter, who had 2 outstanding felony warrants for Probation Violation was later transported to Freeman Neosho with minor injuries by Freeman Ambulance and was later released. One Deputy with the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team was also treated at the scene with minor injuries.
Carter is currently being held at the McDonald County Detention Center for his outstanding warrants and was also charged with several new charges as a result of the incident including Felony Stealing, Poss of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Felony Resisting Arrest.
