Reckless Driver Leads Pittsburg PD on Chase
A citizen call of a reckless driver turns into a police chase, a crash and a foot pursuit in Pittsburg.
On Wednesday afternoon a person called 911 to report someone following the caller in a dangerous manner and trying to confront the caller outside of Pittsburg on US bypass 69.
While on the way to investigate, a Pittsburg Police Officer spotted the caller and the other driver and watched as the suspect made an illegal u-turn on 4th Street almost hitting another car.
A short chase ensued until the suspect, 54-year-old Jerry Dean Williams of Pittsburg, blew a tire and had engine failure then ran from the car. After a short foot chase, Jerry was in custody.
Williams is charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and obstruction. He also may face additional charges, because when he ran from the car, Williams didn’t put the car in park.
