Joplin man arrested after pursuit through town

Law Enforcement have released the identity of the Joplin man who led them on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle Wednesday night.

Wednesday night a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy located a vehicle traveling west on Zora Street in Joplin displaying Kansas license plates that came back as being a stolen.

The Deputy tried to get the vehicle to stop at Goetz Blvd and Newman Road. The vehicle failed to stop and lead the officer on a chase that went into Newton County on 49 Hwy to the Gateway Drive exit, where it then head back north on 49 Hwy and then back into Jasper County.

The driver exited onto 32nd Street where Stop Sticks were deployed. The suspect’s tires were successfully deflated and the vehicle came to a stop when it got stuck on the concrete divider trying to turn onto Rangeline Road.

The driver, Timothy Allen Greer, 54 of Joplin, was taken into custody. Mr. Greer also had seven active warrants for his arrest.

The pursuit involved officer from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the Joplin Police Department.
