BBB Issues Warning To Fortnite Gamers
Do your kids love Fortnite? It’s the latest gaming craze, so it should come as no surprise that the game’s maker is making a lot of money from of unsuspecting kids, as well their parents who have to foot the bill. The game itself is free, but all of the weapons, costumes, and other accessories to improve your game require you to make an ‘In Game’ purchase- and it isn’t cheap, ranging from $5-$100 for additional gaming currency known as V-Bucks. In addition, some gamers who knowingly made purchases aren’t happy, citing a slew of problems.
News Talk KZRG contacted the Better Business Bureau about the problem after finding that the company had received hundreds of complains. Stephanie Garland explains why they gave Epic Games’ Fortnite an ‘F’ rating.
“For example, we’ve had some consumers complain that they’ve spent $114 trying to purchase these items, and not only did they have problems with them, but they had some poor customer service, so they felt like their money was just thrown down the toilet.”
Garland urges parents to monitor the games their kids are downloading. Even if the app says it’s free, those games often have ‘In Game’ purchase options available.
