Flu vaccine available at Jasper County Health Department
The flu: It tends to hit when you least expect it and when it hits, it can be severe.
Laurie Fasken-Tripp, RN, Nursing Supervisor at the Jasper County Health Department in Carthage says your best bet is to get a flu shot.
She says for children many shots are provided through the federal government and the State Health Department which is the Vaccines for Children program. Those types of shots are free to eligible recipients.
For children covered by health insurance, the Jasper County Health Department has vaccines for purchase.
The flu vaccine, which is preservative-free, is suitable for children aged 6 months and over, adults and pregnant women.
The flu can be particularly severe for those with existing health problems and the elderly. Vaccines are also available for adults. The Department accepts cash payments and will bill insurance companies and Medicare and Medicaid.
