Former Joplin teen killed in crash on I-70 in Kansas
A former Joplin teenager was killed in an accident in northwestern Kansas Thursday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol tells Newstalk KZRG that around 10 am, 16-year-old Jackson Buerge, now of Overland Park, was a passenger in a SUV traveling west on I-70 when a semi rear-ended the vehicle. 42-year-old Justin Buerge, 40-year-old Trisha Buerge and 9-year-old Maxwell Buerge were all seriously injured in the crash. The incident happened just as the Kansas Department of Transportation announced that I-70 in the area would be closed due to winter storm conditions.
