Gun Shots at a Crowded KC Mall
Gunshots rang out at Oak Park Mall while it was filled with after-Christmas bargain hunters last (Wednesday) night. The suburban Kansas City mall had to shut down as police investigated a report of gunfire in the parking lot.
Shoppers poured out of the Mall on Wednesday night when the shooting started, but some were forced to stay inside as police put stores on lock-down. Police in Overland Park, Kansas, found several shell casings outside but no blood.
Police Tell News Talk KZRG that an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot was struck by gunfire but other possible damage and victims are still unknown. Police are seeking a suspect and any possible victims as their investigation continues.
The gunfire comes just two months after a scuffle led to shots being fired outside the mall’s food court entrance. One man is charged with attempted first-degree murder following that event.
The mall tweeted that it’s resuming regular hours Thursday.
