Child molestation conviction results in 265-year sentence

What would you do if you came home to find a man photographing and molesting your one-year-old daughter?

That’s what happened in Clay County in June 2017.

A couple let 28-year old Jayson Newlun watch their toddler while they went to the store. They walked in on the man when they returned.

Court records say the girl’s father tackled Newlun and held him until police arrived.

Newlun was sentenced Thursday in Liberty, Mo.  for three counts of statutory sodomy and seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Prosecutor Daniel White said in a statement that the mother screamed “I hope you go down for this,” and Newlun responded, “I do, too.”
