Arrests Made in Monett Tire Slashing Investigation

The Monett Police Department concluded its investigation into the tire slashing incidents that occurred between late October and early November involving approximately 74 vehicles and 159 tires totaling $21,939. Read the rest of the press release below:

Four juveniles were identified and charged through the 39th Circuit Juvenile Office.

Three adults were charged and arrested.

17-year-old Dakota Mitchell of Verona was arrested on December 12th. He has three charges out of Barry County for Property Damage 1st degree with a bond of $15,000. He also has two charges out of Lawrence County for Property Damage 1st degree with a bond of $6,000.

17-year-old Charles Mitchell of Pierce City was arrested on December 12th. He has three charges out of Barry County for Property Damage 1st degree with a bond of $15,000. He also has two charges out of Lawrence County for Property Damage 1st degree with a bond of $6,000.

18-year-old Timothy Gilliam of Pierce City was arrested on December 10th. He is charged in Barry County with Property Damage 1st degree with a bond of $5,000. He also is charged in Lawrence County with Property Damage 1st degree with a bond of $3,000.

All three are currently incarcerated at the Barry County Jail.

-ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE-

The Monett Police Department received numerous reports of tires being punctured and flattened to at least 59 vehicles since November 1st. The reports started coming in on Thursday morning 11/01/18 after the Halloween Holiday Wednesday evening. On 11/01/18, 11 tires were reported cut to 5 different vehicles. Damage was reported again Saturday morning 11/03/18, when 23 vehicles were reported to have damage to 30 tires. The damage was mainly on the west side of town. Additional reports were received Sunday morning with 45 tires on 30 vehicles damaged. Sunday morning the reports were made across town from Eisenhower and Nellie to Chapel Drive and Highway 60 including the Wal-Mart parking lot. Additional reports continue to come in from the initial event.

Estimates of the damage for all three days are in excess of $10,400 at this time. Officers are still receiving updated information.

Through tips and surveillance video Monett Officers have identified 3 adults and 4 juvenile suspects that used a white, extended cab, 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 pickup with Texas license plates during the commission of the crimes. No suspect information is being released at this time pending formal charges through the Barry County Prosecuting Attorney Office, Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Office and the Juvenile Office of the 39th Judicial Circuit.
