Missouri Poacher Gets Sentenced to Watch “Bambi”
The multi-year investigation involved state, federal and Canadian law enforcement agencies as well as conservation officers, eventually tied 14 Missourians to more than 230 charges in 11 counties, and included state and federal wildlife violations in Kansas, Nebraska and Canada.
Now one of the men involved in the killing of hundreds of dear at night, taking their heads and leaving the carcasses behind to rot, has been sentenced. His sentence of one year in prison also includes an interesting punishment.
David Berry Jr. has been ordered to watch “Bambi” as part of his sentencing. Berry Jr. must watch the Walt Disney movie the first time before Sunday and at least once each month during his one-year jail sentence in Lawrence County. He was also sentenced to 120 days in jail in Barton County for a firearms probation violation.
David Berry Jr. along with his father, David Berry Sr. of Springfield, and his brother Kyle Berry, of Everton were caught in what conservation agents are calling one of Missouri’s largest deer poaching cases.
