Uranus Newspaper No More
Judgmental people: That’s the reason Louie Keen, the owner and publisher of The Uranus Examiner says his newspaper had to shut down.
Keen says banks declined to provide loans and businesses wouldn’t advertise in the paper because he once owned a strip club.
Uranus is an unincorporated tourist spot along historic Route 66. It is known for quirky attractions, including a fudge shop and the world’s largest belt buckle.
The paper’s management announced the end of publication Friday, after publishing five editions since it began in September.
In statements posted on Facebook, Managing Editor Natalie Sanders and Keen blamed a judgmental “Fuddy Duddy Squad” for the paper’s demise
The decision leaves Pulaski County, Missouri, including its county seat of Waynesville, with no newspaper.
