Missouri American Water Proposes Reservoir in Newton County

Missouri American Water is looking at two potential locations for a future water reservoir in Newton County. The company has started sending letters to nearly 200 landowners whose land is in the area they plan to develop for the reservoir that could cover as much as 1500 acres and hold 12 billion gallons of water.

One location is just west of I-49, and south of Gateway drive. The other proposed location would be south of Highway V between I-49 and Highway 59 southwest of Diamond.

Missouri American Water plans to hold public meetings in the near future for more feedback from citizens.
