Lamar Man Arrested in Kidnapping Case

A Lamar man is in custody after a suspected kidnapping case. On Monday, Barton County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated an incident where a 46-year-old woman alleged she had been tied up and bound by duct tape and nylon rope at her home along A Highway. Deputies also learned she was then placed into a wooden box inside the home for some time before she was able to escape and call for help.

Authorities identified and arrested the suspect 26-year-old Matthew Clements. He is facing first-degree kidnapping and resisting arrest charges. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond. He also had several other warrants out for his arrest.
