Search Continues for Missing Joplin Woman
Police follow up on new leads with search using dogs
The search continues for a Joplin woman who hasn’t been seen for months. 28-year-old Sarah Burton was reported missing to the Joplin Police Department July 16th after being dropped off in the area of 10th and Rex. Last month, police reported that she was also seen after that at a home on the northwest side of town. Captain Trevor Duncan says they are following up on leads in the case. “Yesterday evening (Monday), following up on some information…Four-States Search and Rescue provided three dogs to assist us with a search in Jasper County. We conducted a search there, did not locate anything but it was just basically following up on the case.”
“Through the duration of this whole case we’ve spoke to numerous people; friends, family, different people that we thought could have some kind of information. We’ve had other people come forward with information and any information that appears to be of any value or any we can do anything with we follow up on. This was one of the times we got some information that we deemed we should follow up with using dogs.”
While no clues were found there, Duncan says that they continue to be concerned for Sarah’s well-being and are attempting to get to the bottom of the case to locate Sarah and to bring her home.
Sarah is listed as 5’7″, 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
