Neosho Man Handed Suspended Sentence In Assault/Burglary Case

A Neosho man that pleaded guilty to first degree burglary had his wish granted in a plea deal this week. Judge Dean Dankleson handed 24-year-old Dakota Garrett a suspended sentence in a case that involved assaulting a  man during a home invasion last year while an infant was also in the home. In June 2017, Garrett and another man entered a Carl Junction home and refused to leave when asked by 22-year-old Austin Boyd. According to court documents, Garrett knocked over the baby in the living room while trying to assault Boyd. Boyd pulled out a knife and sliced Garrett before he could be punched in the head a second time. Garrett was also ordered to serve five years of supervised probation.
