Around 10 a.m., Thursday, Cherokee County Sheriff’s were looking for a man with outstanding warrants at a home in Weir. While deputies didn’t find that suspect, another man at the home gave a fake name. As the deputy was running the name through the National Crime Information Center index, the man got into a car, tried to hit the officer and fled the scene.
That man, 45-year-old William Clinton, then authorities on a shot pursuit before being stopped a few miles into Missouri. He had outstanding warrants from Crawford County for distribution/possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing law enforcement. He also had warrants in Missouri as well.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office will seek charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement, interference with law enforcement, reckless driving, fleeing law enforcement and driving while revoked.
Clinton was taken to the Jasper County Jail by Jasper County deputies.
