Jasper County Authorities are searching for suspects in an alleged burglary on the southwest side of Joplin.
Sergeant Tim Williams says they received a call around 2 p.m., Wednesday afternoon to a home on West Acorn Drive. “A female called into 911 saying two male suspects broke into her house while she was in there with her child. Whenever she saw them, they ran out of the house and one of the subjects reportedly had a firearm with him–a handgun.”
Williams says the woman then went to her neighbor’s house. Authorities initially were told that one individual was still in the home and that the other had fled south on foot, so they then searched the house but found nothing.
“We’re still obtaining initial statements and what has been taken and trying to work the scene as well,” said Williams.
He says the only description they have is that the subject, who reportedly fled south, was wearing a grey hooded shirt with a red t-shirt underneath.
The area just northeast of 32nd and Central City Road is heavily wooded as authorities continue to search for those suspects involved.
