Gross Pleads Not Guilty To Receiving Stolen Property

Former consultant for Big Spring CID in Neosho

The former consultant for the Big Spring Community Improvement District has pleaded not guilty to three counts of receiving stolen property. 63-year-old Darrell Gross of Republic waived an arraignment Monday in Newton County Court. Gross is accused of diverting over $13,000 in CID tax revenue into his personal account. In a probable cause statement obtained by NewsTalk KZRG, Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators allege Gross had the Missouri Department of Revenue stop making direct deposits into the Big Spring Plaza CID fund and instead mail him paper checks. The probable cause statement also alleges Gross opened a new Big Spring Plaza CID bank account with forged signatures of two CID board members.
