Update: 2 Found Dead In Rural Pierce City Ruled Murder/Suicide

UPDATE 11/14, 12:38 p.m: An autopsy has revealed the cause of death for a mother and daughter from Pierce City. Lawrence County investigators confirm the deaths of 10-year-old Kaydee Moerer, and her mother, 40-year-old Sara Spears was a murder-suicide. On Monday morning, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a well being check at Spears residence to assist the Division of Family Services. Inside, the bodies of Spears and Moerer were found deceased from a single gun shot wound to each of them. The investigation is continuing to determine how much time had elapsed since someone last had contact with them.


UPDATE 11/13, 8pm: The second person found dead at the scene has been identified as 10-year-old Kaydee Moerer of Pierce City.  She had a gunshot wound.  Kaydee is the biological daughter of Spears.  The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating both deaths as homicides.  Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday (11/14)


Lawrence County law enforcement is investigating two deaths in rural Pierce City. The Sheriff’s Office received a call for well being check around 10am Monday (11/13) to a home northeast of Pierce City and found two people dead. One has been identified as 40-year-old Sara Spears, who lived at the home. The other’s identity has not been released. Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay tells News Talk KZRG this appears to be an isolated incident.
