Charges Filed In Monday Newton County Patrol Car Incident

Here’s an update to a story News Talk KZRG has been following. Charges have been filed against a Neosho man for first degree tampering with a motor vehicle in a Monday (11/13) incident involving a stolen Newton County patrol car. 33-year-old Jason Hurst allegedly assaulted a Sheriff’s deputy while the deputy was serving an eviction notice. Then after Hurst was handcuffed and put in a patrol car, Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings tells News Talk KZRG Hurst got out of his handcuffs and sped off in the patrol car. Hurst was stopped when his vehicle rolled over. He was taken to a Joplin hospital with injuries. More charges are pending.
