Freeman Auxiliary to donate $16,000 to nursing schools

Representatives from eight area nursing schools will receive $2,000 checks each – $16,000 total – from Freeman Auxiliary officials during a Wednesday ceremony inside Freeman West Hospital.

Throughout the year, Freeman Health System provides student nurses with hands-on experience and behind-the-scenes learning opportunities, working alongside veteran Freeman nurses.

Recipient schools include Crowder College, Missouri Southern State University, Northeastern Oklahoma College, Pittsburg State University, Labette Community College, Carthage Technical School, Franklin Technology Center and Fort Scott Community College.

Each year, Freeman volunteers raise money for the Auxiliary through Freeman Gift Galleries at Freeman West and Freeman Neosho Hospitals, raffles, sales and various other events. Freeman Auxiliary also supports the purchase of hospital equipment, services, scholarships and various community needs.
