Death investigation underway after body found in Galena

A death investigation is underway after a body was found in Galena, Kansas, Monday afternoon.

The Galena Police Department says at approximately 3pm, they received a report of a body lying in a field just South of 11th Street near the Mono Fill.

When Officers arrived they located the deceased body of a white male lying in the field. Officers secured the scene and requested KBI to assist in the investigation.

The body has been sent to the Medical Examiners Office in Kansas City. This is an ongoing investigation.
